Ninja Flip Toaster Oven & Air Fryer
Editorial rating
Upright storage after cooling solves a real counter-space problem for lower-profile meals. Limited cooking height and the need to measure both positions constrain the foods and kitchens it suits.

How we rate products →US model checked: SP151 · Manufacturer specification research
Would upright storage give your prep counter useful space back?
The SP151 flips upright after cooling, freeing counter space between meals. Its wide, shallow cavity is worth considering for toast, pizza and food spread in a single layer.

THE REAL BUYING QUESTION
Does it make sense for your kitchen?
The Flip makes its clearest case after dinner, when it can stand upright and give some counter space back. Choose it for lower-profile food and flexible storage. For tall roasts, bread pans or two-level meals, a larger conventional countertop oven is the more useful comparison.
Where the design earns its place
- Upright storage can release prep space between uses, after cooling.
- Eight functions include air fry, bake, pizza and dehydrate.
- The documented package includes a basket, sheet pan, wire rack and crumb tray.
Trade-offs to be aware of
- A low cavity limits taller food and cookware.
- Both cooking and upright positions need measured clearance.
- Rotating storage does not remove the need to clean oven surfaces and accessories.
Storage flexibility does not add cooking height. Tall dishes and larger roasts may not fit; check operating and upright clearance separately.

INDIVIDUAL MODEL RESEARCH REVIEW
Our assessment of the Ninja Flip Toaster Oven & Air Fryer
Cooks who want toast, flat tray meals and air frying, but also need the counter for other prep between uses.
You often cook tall dishes, need two-rack meals or cannot provide clearance for both cooking and upright storage.
BUYING DETAIL 01
The real benefit arrives when cooking is finished
The SP151 is designed to pivot into an upright storage position. That can make a shared prep counter more useful, provided you follow the cooling and positioning instructions before moving it. Measure both positions and the space needed to rotate it. A cabinet that suits the cooking position may still block the upright one.
BUYING DETAIL 02
A wide surface is different from a tall cavity
The shallow shape favors foods laid out across a tray: toast, pizza and smaller portions to air fry. It is less suitable for a tall roast or deep bread pan. Ninja advertises 12-inch pizza capacity, while independent testing found some fit limits. Check your own pan or pizza dimensions rather than treating the advertised diameter as universal usable space.
BUYING DETAIL 03
Eight functions do not settle the choice
Ninja lists air fry, roast, broil, bake, pizza, toast, bagel and dehydrate. The question is how often you would use those functions in this particular shape. If dinner usually spans two levels or includes a tall casserole, the DT201 deserves a look. If a low tray is enough, the Flip offers a different storage trade-off.
BUYING DETAIL 04
Convenient storage still comes with oven cleanup
The basket, sheet pan, wire rack and crumb tray all need care. Read the washing instructions and allow the appliance to cool before cleaning or rotating it. Think about access to the interior as well as removable parts; a low cavity may be less convenient to wipe than a taller one, depending on where it sits.
BUYING DETAIL 05
Compare the Flip with the oven you would otherwise buy
Choose the Flip when recovering counter space is a real daily benefit. Choose a conventional cabinet oven when cooking height or larger meals matters more. We have not tested either machine ourselves. The documented difference is the storage arrangement and cavity format, with independent perspectives attributed separately below.
REAL PURCHASE QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Can I flip it upright while it is hot?
Follow Ninja’s cooling and handling instructions. The upright position is for storage between uses, not cooking.
Is it suitable for a tall roast?
Its low cooking chamber is the main limitation. Check the food and dish height; a conventional cabinet oven may suit taller items better.
Does it cook on two levels like the DT201?
Do not assume so. Use the SP151’s own rack and function instructions; the DT201 is the two-level alternative in our guide.
